How to Convince Patients that Technology can Save Their Lives

Last year, eHealthcare Solutions acquired an e-commerce business that sells a variety of products to people who suffer from diabetes. We believe in these products because we know they can truly change a patient’s health outlook. For instance, one of the products we offer is the A1CNow monitoring system that measures the average blood glucose level in diabetes patients over a period of two to three months. A high A1C level is a strong indicator of diabetes problems. Steve Freed, Diabetes Educator and A1C testing evangelist says, “The A1C test is not just a blood sugar test, it’s a Quality of Life Test.” Through similar language, we are trying to connect with consumers and HCPs on an emotional level. It is not as easy as you would think to convince people that one little test every few months can guide them to make better decisions that impact their health.

Moving Mobile Health Past The Hype from Forbes intelligently discusses the difficulty in convincing people to use technology to change their health behaviors. “Fundamentally these chronic ‘lifestyle diseases’ such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension are behaviorally driven. Digital health must shift to a more consumer-centric mentality to achieve user relevancy and embrace the very real psychosocial and emotional challenges that limit self-care behaviors.”
