Drug Companies Deserve More Respect
Bob Ehrlich, Chairman of DTC Perspectives, Inc., writes “Critics should think twice about lamenting how obscene drug company profits have been. If any industry should have high profits it is the one that can save our lives. That means giving drug companies some help in issues relating to extended patent life, speed of approval, risk acceptance and good profit margins. Do you think the Canadians will develop the next life-saving antibiotic? Or is it likely it will be the Italians, French, Greeks or Russians? Yes we may pay more for our drugs, but we will likely be the first ones to develop the next antibiotic.”
